“Katsu” is one of the characters of the HFO paddock and travels from his home in Tokyo to race with HFO. Having sponsored Japanese driver Haruki Kurosawa during his early F3 career, Katsu has a wealth of detailed track information which he uses to finesse his lines around the European circuits.
He can often be seen crouched over his laptop examining on-board footage from Haruki’s car prior to a session in HFO
In 2008, Katsu drove his twin chassis Lotus 88B and when Dan Collins switched from his Lotus 91 to the other 88B owned by Clive Chapman for the Silverstone event, Katsu and Dan finally raced both 88B’s at the circuit where they were infamously declared legal to practise but then excluded overnight from the 1981 British Grand Prix.
